Neil is a minor antagonist in the After series written by Anna Todd, appearing in two scenes where he acts inappropriately toward Tessa Young.
History[]
Encounter at the Fraternity House[]
Neil is first introduced at a fraternity house where Tessa is staying the night. He is heavily intoxicated and attempts to initiate unwanted advances on her while she is trying to sleep. He wakes her up by speaking in her ear and placing his hand near her, making her uncomfortable. Despite her attempts to push him away, Neil laughs off her resistance and insists that they will "have some fun." His aggressive and inappropriate behavior leads Tessa to knee him in the groin, allowing her to escape the room.
As she flees, Neil drunkenly chases her down the hallway, calling after her. Fortunately, his intoxicated state causes him to stumble, giving Tessa enough time to reach Hardin Scott’s room for safety. When Hardin confronts Neil, he immediately backs down and retreats without further incident.
Second Encounter[]
Tessa later encounters Neil again while walking with Hardin down the hall of the fraternity house. Neil nearly runs into her and greets her in a suggestive manner, which makes her feel nauseous. Recognizing him instantly, Tessa calls out to Hardin, who quickly intervenes. Hardin orders Neil to get away from her, and Neil, realizing Hardin is present, turns pale and apologizes before walking away. Hardin considers retaliating physically, but Tessa pleads with him not to.

Personality[]
Neil is depicted as a predatory and opportunistic individual who takes advantage of his intoxicated state to harass others. He displays no remorse for his actions and only retreats when confronted by someone stronger, like Hardin. His cowardly nature is evident in both of his encounters with Tessa, as he quickly backs down when faced with opposition.
