Pablo Andrés is an illustrator and comic book artist. He is the illustrator for the After: The Graphic Novel series based on the novels by the same name written by Anna Todd. In addition to his work in the After graphic novel adaptation, Pablo has worked in Dark Horse Comics, Insight Comics, Hugo&Cie, Disney, and Webtoon.
In the After graphic novel adaptation Pablo worked with the scriptwriter Véronique Grisseaux and Javier Aranda, who was in charge of the inking of some pages, and the colorist Werner Sánchez. Pablo was in charge of the sketching, storytelling, and final inking.
The work on this project was done entirely digitally. Pablo worked with a Syntek tablet and Clip Studio Paint. About his creative process he said that after reading the script, he gathered all possible references, from general concepts to very specific details. He explained: "I only seek to capture the essential so nothing is finished, it's something very conceptual and I go to the next page. This way I can see the characters directly in the situations that they are going to live."[1]
Notes and Trivia[]
- He said Tessa was one of the most difficult characters to capture. She is a character that evolves a lot throughout the story and it was difficult to find the look that she had to have in the first book.[1]
- In Hardin's first sketches, he tried to make him have a silhouette that was totally opposite to Noah's. He went for sharper edges, opposite to Noah's gentle and soft appearance. Also through the inking, He tried to make Hardin the only character that had a completely black shadow to contrast with the environment and with the rest of the characters.[1]
